A game for kids, both on Tablet and with physical objects.
Based on an idea of real physical game I had. Everything done with my little hands, if possible. Mostly to experiment on my newly acquired graphic tablet at that time.
A Mastermind-like combination game with a touch of dancing moves inside. The idea of crafting the game was also a must for me, I always loved when cereal boxes had games you had to cut out and glue together back at the time.
First off, you have to get your hands dirty! Grab your scissors, glue, cardboard and MAKE the game. Print out the provided pdf file, cut the cards out, the tablet support pattern and the dice. Fold what needs to be folded, glue what needs to be glued! Put the tablet on the support and go to the game page on itch.io. Choose your language and you’re off !
Each player has three Totem combinations (Dance Cards) to reproduce during their turn. They throw the dice and move as many totem parts as the dice says. Once they reach one of their combination, they get up and dance !!! (mimicking the word written on the card) to win a point. The game ends when a kid completed all his dances.
This was a long-running project I was eager to finish. This was at the beginning a simple exercice to get used to my graphic tablet. The game in itself was even older than that, thought to be a real toy/board game if I had the time/money/will to get to sculpt the thing out of wood. But Constuct was easier 🙂 So it’s basically the kind of games I love to create : simple yet mind-scratching, serious in mecanics yet funny in playing. It also has a linguistic interest, which is a fondamental plus for me. Cards are bilingual so you can teach kids french words as they play : it’s insidious, it’s Machiavellian and it works so great, so why go without?!
